Designer sunglasses in Old Bridge, NJ.
A curated sun selection at Eye Atelier — Cartier, Dior, Gucci, Fendi, Maui Jim, Dita, Oliver Peoples — fitted by hand.
A proper pair of designer sunglasses has to do three things at once: sit well, look right, and handle whatever light you actually live in. That is harder than most stores will admit. At Eye Atelier — our luxury optical boutique in Old Bridge, NJ — we curate our sun selection around silhouettes that do all three, and we fit them the way a sunglass deserves to be fit.
Our curation is organized around the couture houses and a few specialist names: Cartier for the metalwork and the quiet statement, Dior and Gucci for the unmistakably contemporary silhouettes, Fendi and Balmain for the Italian and French hand, Loewe for sculptural restraint, Dita for the precision, Oliver Peoples for understated American luxury, Maui Jim for polarized performance, and Chanel where available.
A better fitting, in practice
Sun frames carry weight — literally and socially. A real fitting starts with proportion against your brow and cheekbone, continues through temple curl and nose-pad angle, and only ends when the frame sits level, rests cleanly, and stays put when you move. We will not rush you through it. If a frame is close but not right, we will say so and try something else.
Lens choice, without the marketing
Every lens treatment is a trade-off. Polarized lenses cut glare and are wonderful on water, open roads, and bright sand — they also interact oddly with some LCD dashboards and phone screens. Gradient lenses look softer and more elegant in certain light. Photochromic sun lenses adapt, which is convenient but never as dark as a dedicated sunglass. We will walk through what each option actually does, based on how you actually use sunglasses. No mysticism.
Prescription designer sun
Most designer sunglass frames accept prescription lenses — progressives included. But not every frame carries a strong prescription gracefully. We will tell you before we cut whether a frame geometry and your prescription are a good match. For big wrap or shield silhouettes with strong prescriptions, certain lens materials and coatings matter more than others; we will explain those trade-offs plainly.
Statement silhouettes and everyday sun
Some clients come to Eye Atelier for a single statement piece — an oversized acetate, a gold Cartier aviator, a shield. Others want a quiet, everyday sunglass they will reach for every morning for the next five years. We keep both kinds of selection, and we will help you figure out which one you are actually buying before we start cutting lenses.
The right sunglass should disappear into the rhythm of your day. Getting there starts with the fitting.

Questions, answered.
Which designer sunglass brands do you carry?
Cartier, Dior, Gucci, Fendi, Balmain, Loewe, Dita, Oliver Peoples, Maui Jim, Chanel, and other luxury houses — rotated carefully as new pieces come in.
Can designer sunglasses be made with my prescription?
Yes. Most designer sunglass silhouettes carry prescription lenses, progressives included. We will explain the trade-offs before we cut.
Are polarized lenses always the right choice?
Not always — they cut glare wonderfully on roads and water but can interact with some screens. We will discuss how you actually use sunglasses and recommend accordingly.
Do you sell sports and polarized sunglasses?
Yes — Maui Jim covers most of the active polarized range, and several of the couture houses carry wrap and shield silhouettes.
Do you adjust and repair designer sunglasses?
Yes. Nose pads, hinges, temple curl, screws — often while you wait.
